About Us

Atelier Nyonya was established to introduce handmade coastal batik from Java's coastal cities to the world and promote these vibrant and colourful batiks. Crafted with intention, the collection celebrates the dynamic energy of the coastal batik, reimagined through contemporary designs. 

Our brand sources batik directly from talented artisans, ensuring authenticity and a deep connection to the craft. We work in small batches, using only natural and eco-conscious materials, and produce each design in limited quantities. We collaborate with Indonesian small confection businesses to support local seamstresses and tailors, empowering communities and economies. By doing this, we aim to promote traditional crafts, preserve cultural heritage, and allow artisans and small businesses to showcase their talents, fostering economic growth and positive change within the communities.

All designs are created in Amsterdam and expertly tailored in Indonesia, combining modern minimalism with Indonesian heritage. We focus on inclusivity and simplicity for sizing, making every piece accessible and wearable for various body types. We believe in slow fashion that tells a story of culture, collaboration, and sustainability.
